An annual report from the People's Trust for Endangered Species

The report highlights the ongoing discussions over badgers and the spread of bovine TB, the mountain hare as a new BAP species and the possibility of reintroducing beavers to England.

State of Britains Mammals

A new local mammal group has recently been formed. Have a look at the
Surrey Mammal Group
website to see what they are doing.

There has been a review of the UK Biodiversity Action Plan Priority species list and the following mammals hav now been added:
*Hedgehog
*Pine Marten
*Harvest Mouse
*Polecat


There is an article in the current edition of the Aldershot News entitled
'Giving Humble Species a Chance'
Written by Rebcca Mcgill and looking at dormice locally it features the work of Ian White, a committee member of the Hampshire Mammal Group and also the Dormouse Officer at Peolples Trust for Endangered Species.
